Cheers spirit spreads to San Miguel town

From its birthplace in the capital town, the Christmas Cheers spirit has spread to nearby San Miguel, which has staged its own version for the second straight year.

An evening of Christmas songs and cultural dances with the participation of different barangays, elementary and high school students was held last December 23 at 7 P.M. at the town plaza.

Initiated by the San Miguel Parish Youth groups and fully supported by Mayor Francisco "Jun" Camano, Jr., the Christmas Cheers gave all San Miguelenos a satisfying break and imbued in their hearts the spirit of the Yuletide season.

This December 29, all parish youth groups will participate in the Parish Youth Day, which will be held in coordination with the local Sangguniang Kabataan.

Virac's wholly original Christmas Cheers is now on its 15th year since it was founded by Msgr. Jose B. Molina with the help of the Marriage Encounter Movement and the Catanduanes Tribune. The success of the annual festival has led San Andres to stage its own, one-day version for several years now.
