Farmer
stabbed dead by drunk
A
farmer who was fatally stabbed twice in a public
dance lived long enough to whisper the identity
of his attacker, leading police to arrest the
30-year old suspect.
Police
said Melencio de la Rosa y Baltazar, 23, single
and a resident of barangay Sta. Cruz, was
attending a dance at barangay Oga when he was
stabbed twice by Jesus Teocson, 30, married and
a farmer from Oga, at about 11 P.M. of Feb. 24.
Witnesses
said the victim was able to whisper his
attacker's identity before he died right at the
dance hall.
In
the capital town, Loreto Angeles y Arojado, 36,
single and temporarily residing at Jun Camano's
boarding house in Cavinitan, was engaged in a
drinking spree with a Muslim at the residence of
one Pio Salvador at 4:50 P.M. of Feb. 25 when
the suspect, Jaime "Paas" Tajan,
arrived while under the influence of liquor and
stabbed Angeles once in the right shoulder.
Policemen who responded to the report found at
the scene the 10-inch knife used by Tajan, who
fled after the incident.
In
another incident, barangay tanods disarmed a
bolo-wielding drunk who challenged everyone to a
fight last Feb. 25 in Dayawa, San Miguel.
Shortly
before 7 P.M., alarmed residents called for help
when suspect Edwin Capistrano y Tilis, 31, armed
with a bolo and under the influence of liquor,
kept on shouting and challenging everyone to a
fight. Tanods Lino Tapel and Sabio Tarala
responded and tried to pacify the suspecr but
Capistrano instead confronted the barangay
police with his 22-inch bolo.
Meanwhile,
Virac lawmen seized hot lumber loaded on board a
tricycle last week. PO1 Arlan Sevilla and PO1
Whelming Escaro was on surveillance mission
against the illegal transport of lumber when
they intercepted a Honda tricycle with plate
number EC-3724 driven by Meynardo Morelos, 42,
married and of Gogon. The impounded tricycle was
loaded with 32 board feet of illegally-cut
lumber allegedly owned by Pedro Abundo, Jr. and
Charlie Vergara of Buyo.
