"The Catanduanes Tribune, the oldest news weekly in the province of
Catanduanes, was founded in 1981 by publisher-editor and provincial board
member Fredeswindo Tomagan Gianan, Sr. It actually began publishing in
1967 but the declaration of martial law in 1972 cut short its existence.
From the first 1981 issue, the Tribune has emerged as the most
reliable, fair and crusading newspaper in the history of Catanduanes,
earning its publisher The Outstanding Catandunganon Award in 1998. With
the founder's death last May 2000, the paper is now being run by sons Fred
Jr. and Edwin, with Fernan A. Gianan, Joel Son Panti, Jex Lucero, Tang
Tacio of Isip-isipon ta, and Dr. Vietrez P. David-Abella and the Cathedral
clergy as regular
columnists." |
