A Grade Six pupil of the Catanduanes State Colleges (CSC) Elementary Laboratory School placed fourth in the recently concluded National Feature Writing Contest in Pangasinan.

Jelaine Angelica R. Ang won 4th place in the on-the-spot feature writing contest that drew over 100 budding journalists throughout the country. Coached by Prof. Antonia D. Molina, she earned her spot in the national level by taking first place in the regional feature writing tilt.

Jelaine, who is also editor-in-chief of their school paper, is the eldest daughter of CSC Prof. Jerry T. Ang and PNB staffer Elaine Rubio-Ang. A consistent honor pupil, she likewise passed the recent preliminary screening of the competitive examinations for incoming freshmen of the prestigious Philippine Science High School, together with her classmates Patrickn T. Gianan, Ma. Perlas Ann R. Arcilla and Cynthia A. Pena.

The top seven winners from each region from Regions 1 to 13 as well as NCR, CAR and ARMM, vied for the national competition. Considered as one of the biggest national academic contests convened by DECS, the presscon brought together the finest young writers from public and private schools in the Philippines.

The contest was held in conjunction with the staging of the 52nd National Schools Press Conference at the Dagupan People's Astrodome in Dagupan City.
