A
Grade Six pupil of the Catanduanes State
Colleges (CSC) Elementary Laboratory School
placed fourth in the recently concluded National
Feature Writing Contest in Pangasinan.
Jelaine
Angelica R. Ang won 4th place in the on-the-spot
feature writing contest that drew over 100
budding journalists throughout the country.
Coached by Prof. Antonia D. Molina, she earned
her spot in the national level by taking first
place in the regional feature writing tilt.
Jelaine,
who is also editor-in-chief of their school
paper, is the eldest daughter of CSC Prof. Jerry
T. Ang and PNB staffer Elaine Rubio-Ang. A
consistent honor pupil, she likewise passed the
recent preliminary screening of the competitive
examinations for incoming freshmen of the
prestigious Philippine Science High School,
together with her classmates Patrickn T. Gianan,
Ma. Perlas
Ann R. Arcilla and Cynthia A. Pena.
The
top seven winners from each region from Regions
1 to 13 as well as NCR, CAR and ARMM, vied for
the national competition. Considered as one of
the biggest national academic contests convened
by DECS, the presscon brought together the
finest young writers from public and private
schools in the Philippines.
The
contest was held in conjunction with the staging
of the 52nd National Schools Press Conference at
the Dagupan People's Astrodome in Dagupan City.
