DECS
starts ranking of teacher-applicants
The
Department of Education, Culture & Sports (DECS)
is now accepting documents from applicants for
teaching positions who wish to be included in
the 2001 rankings.
Catanduanes
Schools Division Superintendent Nelly B. Beloso
has announced through a memorandum that
teacher-applicants have until April 16, 2001 to
submit the required documents to the division
office. She said the SY 2001-2002 Division
Ranking is in line with the department's policy
of attracting "the best and the
brightest" to join the teaching profession.
The
applicants, whether new or re-applying, are
advised to submit one photocopy each of the
following documents: trancript of records of
bachelor's degree earned (with Special Order in
case of private school graduates); PBET/LET
rating; PRC license/certification; service
records; certificates of attendance to DECS-sponsored
seminars/workshops; certificate of computer
training; and, passport (if balikbayan or OCW).
The
documents, Beloso said, must be placed in a long
folder and submitted to the office of the
assistant schools superintendent on or before
April 16, 2001, with the original copies of the
documents to be shown for verification purposes.
The
ranking will be done by municipality for
elementary level applicants and by major subject
for secondary level candidates. A written exam
forming part of the screening process will be
administered on April 20 at 8 A.M. at the Virac
Pilot Elementary School.
The
DECS memo also advised last year's applicants
whose names already appear in the ranklist but
were not extended regular permanent appointments
to choose whether to update their papers on file
or not.
The
criteria for ranking are as follows: scholastic
rating (20%); educational qualification (20%);
college academic honors received (5%);
public/private teaching experience (5%);
seminars attended (5%); scholarship grants (5%);
written test (15%); overseas contract worker
(5%); PBET/LET rating (15%); computer training
(3%); and, special academic skills/talents (2%).
The
2001 ranking committee headed by Dr. Artemio Q.
Rivera met last Friday, March 2, at the division
office to consider a systematic ranking
procedure. The other members of the committee
are Mrs. Rosa Tusi, Mrs. Natividad Tuazon, Ms.
Mesalina Gonzales, Mrs. Genena Robles, Ms.
Marichelle Llave, and Rey Bonayon.
