get free training from CSC A total of 2,797 out-of-school youths, students, the unemployed and budding enterpreneurs benefited from a series of free skills training sessions conducted by the Catanduanes State Colleges (CSC) Extension Training Service in the past year. The year-round trainings, which range from the basic as food processing course to high-tech as the computer literacy program, were implemented in the entire span of 2000 in pilot barangays in the province as part of the CSC's continuing community outreach program. According to Prof. Nilo T. Gianan, director of the CSC Extension Service Center, the following trainings were conducted: Food Processing and Preservation in barangays Hawan Ilaya, Magnesia, Buenavista and Palta Small, all in Virac; Sports Clinic in Carangag, San Andres and Pajo Baguio, Virac; Artificial Flower Making in Bon-ot, San Andres and Sto. Cristo, Virac; Bamboo Craft in Pajo Baguio, Virac; Christmas Decors and Novelty Items Making in Hawan Grande, Virac; and, Handicraft and Novelty Items Making in San Pablo, Virac. Aside from these livelihood trainings, the CSC Information Technology Center sponsored a widely participated Information Technology Mass Practical Skills Training in Computer IT Literacy. Conducted in nine batches, the training was participated in by government and private employees in the province. CSC President Dr. Adolfo S. Bagadiong said the training services offered by the CSC to priority barangays is one of its sustained methods in carrying out its mandate to assist the provincial government in particular in delivering relevant extension services that is parallel to the development thrusts of Catanduanes. |
