carabaos lost, slaughtered Dismayed
owners reported three carabaos lost over a four-day period in the capital
town of Virac, with unidentified perpetrators slaughtering one of them and
leaving behind its head for the owner to find. Last
Christmas eve, Catanduanes State Colleges (CSC) College of Agriculture
Dean Rogelio A. Tablizo told police that he and college workers discovered
that the two-and-a-half year old female carabao with a red tag on the left
ear was missing from its pasture near barangay Tibang. Palnab
del Sur resident Marcos Tablizo's luck was even worse. His eight-year old
female carabao, earlier tied near the riverbank, was apparently taken by
unknown suspects who butchered the animal and left its head as a grisly
souvenir for finders. Regina
Asuncion of barangay M. Alberto said that her brother-in-law Valentino
Torres claimed that her female carabao he was taking care of disappeared
from the Torres backyard sometime between 11 to 12 P.M. of Dec. 20. The
carabao, a female with deformed horn and more or less eight years old, had
been tied at the back of his house prior to its loss. In
another development, a high school senior at the Catanduanes College has
complained that he was hit and threatened by members of a school-based
fraternity. Patrickmay
de Leon y Talaran, 16, a resident of Sta. Cruz, told police that a member
of YMF fraternity, a group led by a certain Maureen Lim of barangay
Francia, hit him with a wooden paddle at the back of the legs. Lim
allegedly said that something would happen to him if he would not
cooperate with the fraternity.
