Cops
recover 8 teenaged truants
Virac
police authorities last week swooped down on a
private home in barangay San Pablo, finding
eight girls spending idle time away from their
classes at the Catanduanes National High School.
The
team led by Insp. Rosita Vargas was responding
to a complaint by Mary Jane Tusi, 20, of Rawis,
who told police she had been looking for her
16-year old sister Arlene at the house of a
certain Angelo Gianan in San Pablo at around 3
P.M. of Feb. 22 when Gianan threatened her.
"Magluwas kamo ta gagadanon ta kamo pag dai
kamo naghari," Gianan allegedly told her
when she came to his house.
Thirty
minutes later, the team found Arlene at Gianan's
residence along with seven other teenaged girls:
Jezel Sarmiento, 17, of Sta. Cruz; Michelle
Ubalde, 15, of Danicop; Elizabeth Gribialde, 15,
Francia; Marilyn Orence, 17, San Isidro Village;
Remy Broquiza, 15, Sta. Elena; Arletlyn Belza,
13, Constantino;and, Analiza de la Vega, 15,
Francia.
Police
said the eight girls were "standbying"
(sic) at Gianan's residence for still unknown
reasons during class hours. It is feared that
the group were involved in some illegal
activity, specifically illegal drugs.
In
a related development, five other students of
the Catanduanes National High School charged of
robbery are now in jail after they gave up to
lawmen last Feb. 21.
The
parents of Ronald Romero y Arcilla, 17, 3rd year
high school and resident of Palnab del Sur;
Diogenes Gonzales, Jr. y Panti, 16, 4th year and
of Palnab del Norte; Noel Baylon y Samar, 19,
3rd year and of San Isidro Village; Cresencio de
Leon y Herrera, 16, 3rd year and of Sta. Cruz;
and, Benjie Alegria y Ramos, 16, 3rd year and of
Concepcion, would have to fork out P10,000 each
in hard-earned money just to bail out their sons
from the Virac municipal jail. The quintet have
been charged of robbery and slight physical
injuries in Criminal Case No. 5301 filed before
the sala of Municipal Trial Court Judge Nieto T.
Tresvalles.
