Tokyo
Lions gifts Virac school kids
A
delegation from the Tokyo Adachi-Chou Lions Club
gifted pupils, their parents and teachers of the
Gogon Elementary School in Virac with school
supplies, used clothing and rice last week as a
sign of goodwill.
The
delegation, composed of club secretary Hatsuo
Hasimoto, Mr. Sato and Mr. Ogawa, came with
their host, former Gov. Severo C. Alcantara, to
the school last Friday morning (Feb. 23) and
were warmly received by pupils and teachers with
a welcome program.
The
group distributed packs consisting of notebooks,
pens and other school materials for the
children, plus used clothing and rice for the
parents and teachers.
A
former resident of the barangay, Ms. Ofelia de
Leon, is married to one of the team members and
was instrumental in the choice of Gogon
Elementary School as the recipient of the gifts,
having spent her elementary years there. A team
member said they have been conducting similar
gift-givings in other parts of the country for
several years now.
