Turnover of subdivision road to LGU sought

Homeowners of West Garden Subdivision in the capital town have asked the Sangguniang Bayan to take an active hand in the supposed turnover of open spaces and access roads in their subdivision to the local government unit.

In his letter to Vice Mayor Hector A. Sorrera, CSC Pag-IBIG Homeowners Association president Bernardino C. Abundo, Jr. informed that the barangay council of Bigaa, through Resolution No. 37, series of 2000, had earlier sought the assistance and immediate intervention of the SB in the turnover and eventual concreting of the access road leading to West Garden.

For more than a year now, residents in the village have complained about the access road which is now pockmarked with potholes. They say that the developer should have completed the concreting of the road but work on the remaining 100 meters have yet to be commenced.

Abundo told the Sanggunian that Batas Pambansa Blg. 220 states that the turnover of open spaces, including roads and plazas, to the local government unit where the subdivision is located is to be done a year after the completion of the subdivision project.

“It has been more than five years now but said access road and even the roads and open spaces within our subdivision have not been turned over to the LGU of Virac,” Abundo stressed. He said the association tried to seek financial assistance for the concreting of the road but their attempts were rendered futile because the road lot remains the property of the developer.
