CSC announces local scholarship program for gov’t workers LEGASPI CITY - The Civil Service Commission (CSC) now accepts applications for the Microcomputer Repair and Servicing Course under the Local Scholarship Program-Skilled Workers in Government (LSP-SWG). CSC Bicol regional director David Cabanag said the first batch of classes is scheduled April to October 2001 and the second batch, October 2001 to April 2002. Grantees are guaranteed P3,000 training fee to be paid by CSC, attendance on official time, salaries and PERA paid by their agencies during training, and travel/per diem allowances shouldered by their agency if the training is out of town. DA to accredit swine breeding farms PILI, Camarines Sur - The Department of Agriculture has issued the implementing guidelines on the accreditation of swine breeding farms in support to the swine genetic improvement program of the government. DA regional executive director Fe D. Laysa said the accreditation guidelines contained in Administrative Order No. 55 issued by then Agriculture Sec. Edgardo J. Angara will ensure that the swine industry will improve and produce good quality breeder stocks.
300 cyclists compete in Tour of Camarines Sur CAMARINES SUR - No less than 300 cyclists from Bicol, Metro Manila and other parts of the country joined the kickoff lap of the Tour of Camarines Sur mountain bike race running from Feb. 6 to March 15, 2001, tour chairman Dominador Alarkon, Jr. said this week. Now on its fourth year since it started in 1998 as the Tour of Caramoan, the race has been renamed since it will now traverse all four districts spanning practically the entire length of the province for a total of 307 kilometers. The actual competition is scheduled for three laps from April 25 to 27, 2001 and offers P300,000 in cash prizes aside from trophies and certificates courtesy of principal sponsor Gov. Luis R. Villafuerte.
Sputum test a must for TB suspects - DOH LEGASPI CITY - The Department of Health Center for Health Development (DOH-CHD) has advised the general public, especially those manifesting the symptoms of tuberculosis, to avail of free sputum examination at rural health units in every municipality or city before resorting to X-Ray procedures to determine whether or not one has the disease. |
