The van driven by Dioleto Baybayon was bound for Cataingan with 10 passengers when it was boarded by the suspects in Masbate town. While they were divesting passengers of valuables, SPO4 Cipriano Costramos, TMG team leader in the province, identified himself and drew his cal. 45 service pistol, resulting in the shootout.
