CSCELS pupil to compete In nat’l journalism contest A Grade Six pupil of the CSC Elementary Laboratory School has earned the right to represent Bicol in the National Schools Press Conference feature writing competition this Feb. 5-9, 2001 at Dagupan People’s Astrodome in Pangasinan. Jelaine Angelica R. Ang, currently editor-in-chief of the school paper, secured a spot in one of the country’s biggest academic tilts when she placed first in the Regional Schools Press Conference at Polangui North Central Elementary School in Albay last November. Coached by Prof. Antonia D. Molina, she will be one of Region V’s contenders in various campus journalism individual writing contests in the national meet. Five other contestants from different schools in Catanduanes also earned honors in the regional edition of the press conference and likewise qualified in the national level tilt in Dagupan. They are: Gay S. Aloyon of San Miguel Central Elementary School, 3rd in news writing; Elaine T. Valeza of DPSSMC, 3rd in photo-journalism; Ian Lopez of Pandan West Central E/S, 7th in copy reading and headline writing; Kimberly Zarah P. Bejo of DPSSMC, 7th in editorial cartooning; and, Aiza P. Torrecampo of Virac Pilot E/S, 7th in photo-journalism.
