Vice gov's outlay slashed by 41%

While the proposed 2001 executive budget of the Sanchez administration provided modest increases for various sectors, it slashed the allocation for the office of Vice Governor Alfred M. Aquino by over a million pesos, or 41 percent less than its previous budget.

A review of the Budget Resume prepared by the provincial budget office shows that for the current year, the vice governor's office will receive P1,462,731.72, lesser by P1,030,235.60 than its 2000 allocation of P2,492,967.32.

In contrast, the governor's share of the budget pie was larger by nearly nine percent, from P21,430,918.43 in 2000 to P23,329,475.98, or an increase of P1,898,557.59.

While the outlay for debt amortization decreased from P7,946,269.44 to just P2,946,269.44, the lump-sum appropriation for terminal leave pay and retirement gratuity increased from P700,000 to P4,825,871.02.

The administration hiked the allocation for the Provincial Health Office to P36,818,466.34, an increase of P3,754,626.09 (11.36%) from the 2000 budget of P33,063,840.25.

The allocations for the seven district hospitals, which also increased, are as follows: Baras Medicare Hospital - P2,051,772.66; Bato district hospital - P9,446,710.90; Caramoran municipal hospital - P3,336,079.68; Gigmoto district hospital - P5,043,770.07; Juan M. Alberto Memorial Hospital - P7,134,572.37; Pandan district hospital - P7,365,534.76; and, Viga district hospital - P6,655,888.74.

The allocations by departments are: SP-Legislation - P7,291,941.24; SP-Support Services - P1,964,185.72; Administrator's Office - P573,392.76; Planning & Development Office - P3,852,573.92; General Services - P8,634,662.18; Budget & Management - P2,620,502.56; Accounting - P2,502,430.52; Treasury - P5,398,450.08; Assessment - P4,553,835.44; Legal Office - P658,730.96; PEO-Administrative - P4,771,986.32; PEO Maintenance & Operation - P8,114,363.97; PEO Motorpool - P5,124,031.65; Agriculturist's Office - P9,908,572.04; Veterinary - P557,294.00; ENRO - P446,402.16; and, PSWDO - P1,067,875.30.
