3
seriously hurt in head-on crash
Three
persons, including two tricycle passengers bound
for Bato, were seriously hurt the other week
when a motorcycle collided with the tricycle in
the capital town.
Tricycle
driver Amador Tubalinal, Jr., 22, single, told
police that he was driving his Honda TMX unit
with plate number EX-6116 in the evening of Feb.
10 from Virac to Bato when an oncoming Honda
Dream motorcycle with no plate number and driven
by Ficelco employee Mario Molina, Jr. of
Calatagan crossed lanes and slammed into the
tricycle's sidecar.
Molina
suffered a broken jaw while the two tricycle
passengers - Anacleto Tasarra, 47, and Lito
Ralla, 33, both of San Juan, San Miguel - each
had a broken leg. Reports say Molina smelled of
alcoholic liquor when examined at the Eastern
Bicol Medical Center.
In
another development, two employees of the
municipal government found crablets abandoned by
their would-be smuggler inside a ferry boat
docked at Virac pier last week.
Utility
worker Ruben Valeza and driver Eulogio Gianan
discovered at least 1,000 crablets packed inside
a travelling bag left by its owner on board the
Star Ferry last Feb. 12 just before it left for
Tabaco port. The transport of crablets out of
the province is banned by a provincial ordinance
that imposes heavy fines and a prison term on
violators.
