Tatad
allots P1-M
for
water projects
He
may be one of the most hated politicians in the
nation, but Sen. Francisco S. Tatad has not
forgotten his native land, allocating P1-million
for 66 shallow wells in the 11 towns.
Proposed
by the senator, the construction of the water
supply projects is part of the Lingap Para sa
Mahihirap Program of the National Housing
Authority (NHA) under its Socialized Housing and
Housing-Related Assistance Program.
Under
the program, local government units will execute
a Memorandum of Agreement with NHA allowing LGUs
to undertake implementation of the project in
accordance with NHA guidelines, the terms and
conditions of an earlier MOA between Sen. Tatad
and the NHA, and the specifications and time
frame indicated in the approved project
proposal.
The
projects cover the construction of six (6)
shallow wells with jetmatic handpump units in
each town and will benefit a mininum of six
households per municipality. Pursuant to the
agreement, the NHA will release the amount of
P90,909.12 to cover labor and material costs to
each local government, which will then implement
the project in compliance with the plans,
details, technical specifications and cost
estimates prepared by NHA.
