Coalition's
Senate bets due in Virac Feb. 24
All 13 candidates for
senator of the People Power Coalition are
expected to grace a rally at the Virac Sports
Center this Saturday (Feb. 24), with Pres.
Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo possibly dropping in to
campaign for the coalition.
Aksyon Demokratiko
coordinator Dr. Antonio P. Zantua said the
entourage will arrive in the capital town at
noon and will hold the three-hour rally at the
sports center starting at 2:30 P.M.
To be led by Bicolano
Senator and now DECS Secretary Raul S. Roco, the
coalition candidates who will try to muster
votes here include Senators Juan Flavier,
Franklin Drilon, Sergio Osmena and Ramon
Magsaysay, Jr,; Congressmen Ernesto Herrera,
Ralph Recto, Manuel Villar, and Joker Arroyo;
former Bulacan Gov. Roberto Pagdanganan, former
Sen. Wigberto Tanada, Atty. Francisco Pangilinan,
economist Solita Monsod, and former BIR
Commissioner Liwayway Vinzons-Chato.
According to the
tentative itinerary, the People Power
Coalition's sortie in the Bicol region begins on
Thursday (Feb. 22) in the Camarines provinces,
with rallies in Daet, Naga City, Libmanan and
Iriga City.
The following day, the
group proceeds to Legaspi City, where a rally
will be held along with a separate rally in
either Tabaco or Ligao. On Saturday, the
coalition will proceed to Sorsogon for the
morning before going to Virac.
