P250-T for 5 rural water projects OK'd

The Sangguniang Panlalawigan has reportedly approved a Memorandum of Agreement between the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) and the provincial government covering the implementation of five rural water supply projects costing a total of P250,000.00.

In its recent session, a faction of the board identified with Gov. Hector S. Sanchez okayed the MOA submitted by the LWUA Lingap Fund Task Force, which has been tasked to develop and implement a program for Rural Waterworks Systems in various barangays nationwide to be funded under the Lingap Para sa Mahihirap Program Fund.

Under the agreement, the provincial government will undertake the implementation of the construction of rural water supply projects for barangays Cagdarao in Panganiban; Rizal in Baras; San Vicente in Gigmoto; Paraiso in San Miguel; and, Bacak in Bagamanoc, at a cost of P50,000.00 each according to the technical standards and specifications set by LWUA.

For its part, the LWUA Lingap Fund Task Force will release the funds for the projects and assign a LWUA Action Officer to monitor the progress of the projects and its implementation in accordance with the approved Program of Work.

The authority for the governor to enter into the agreement was approved by the SP faction in its session last Nov. 27. The conduct of the session, as well as the approval of the 1999 bidded projects worth P9-million and the 2000 Annual Investment Program, has been questioned by the Verceles bloc led by Vice Gov. Alfred M. Aquino for its alleged lack of quorum, among others.
