Brods hack man, one arrested

One of two brothers who reportedly hacked a resident of Panganiban town the other Sunday has been collared by policemen.

In its report to PNP provincial director Supt. Rolando O. Gonzales, Panganiban police authorities identified the arrested suspect as Willie de la Cruz of barangay San Miguel. His brother Rogelio remains at large and is being by lawmen.

The report said the de la Cruz brothers, armed with bolos, attacked Lolito Clopino, Jr. y Obiema, also a San Miguel resident, last Nov. 12 at 7 P.M. Authorities are still in the dark as to the motive behind the attack.

The victim sustained hack wounds on the left shoulder and left thigh and was initially taken to the Viga district hospital for emergency treatment. But the severity of his injury prompted doctors to send him by ambulance to Eastern Bicol Medical Center in Virac.

In a separate incident, a  man not only gained lumps but also lost one of the most sought-after gear these days - his cellphone - after five men took turns assaulting him in Virac poblacion last week.

Jun Teston y Tud, 32, a resident of San Isidro Village, said that he was at the vicinity of Virac fountain infront of the cinema at about 11:20 P.M. of November 16 when five unidentified men approached and without any justifiable reason mauled him.

Teston said that in the fracas, he lost a Smart Ericsson cellphone and a pager. The police have no clear lead as to the identity of the suspects.
