Cops trade gunfire with extort suspect

Lawmen on the trail of an extortionist found themselves trading bullets with the suspect the other week in the capital town.

The sketchy report sent to Camp Francisco Camacho stated that last October 26, a team led by SPO4 Adoracion Suaviso, officer-in-charge of the San Andres municipal police station, with five cops coordinated with their Virac counterparts in following up the case of an extortionist who victimized a Lictin resident between 2-3 A.M. on that day.

The team proceeded to a construction site in barangay Sto. Domingo in the capital town where the unidentified suspect reportedly stayed overnight at the house of a certain Danilo Camacho, the lone occupant of the barracks, at 1:45 P.M.

The law enforcers reportedly exchanged gunfire with the suspect,

who was allegedly armed with a cal. 45 pistol, for about a  minute before the outnumbered man fled towards a forested area of nearby Calabnigan and left behind a handbag.

Later, SPO1 Alex Sapla of San Andres police and PO2 Lino Obias of Virac brought to police headquarters one Norberto Lim, Jr. y Asuncion, 19, single, a third-year student at the Catanduanes National High School and resident of barangay Francia, for investigation after it was found that his tricycle was allegedly used by the suspect in the extortion incident in Lictin.

No other details were provided by both police stations in subsequent reports.
