Search is on for Ms. Red Cross 2001

The Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC) Catanduanes Chapter has launched the search for Miss Red Cross Catanduanes 2001, with coronation rites set in September to name the province's official candidate to the national pageant in December.

According to officer-in-charge Dave L. Templonuevo, Jr., the search will focus on the traditional international beauty pageant set-up after selecting the qualified ladies who are strongly supportive to the objectives of the PNRC by gathering votes/ballots that will sustain the multifarious health and welfare services of the chapter.

Candidates from the towns will participate in two contest phases, with the first a popularity tilt wherein candidates will solicit votes from donors and benefactors to determine their rankings.

Those who land in the top 11 will automatically be the semi-finalists, with the one posting the highest number of votes awarded a special title.

In the final phase, all candidates start from scratch and will be judged on intelligence, ability to express one's self and special talent (30%); beauty of face (30%); poise and personality (20%); and, beauty of figure (20%). There will be no bathing suit competition in the final judging.

Among the qualifications needed by interested ladies include: beauty of face and figure; 16 to 25 years old; at least 5'2" in height; has reached at least college level; be fit to attend Red Cross functions where her presence is required; must be sponsored by the municipal government; and, must have the consent of her parents or guardians.

The chapter board headed by chairman Atty. Miguel Concepcion has already asked municipal mayors to create their respective committees in support of the fund-raising drive.
