Family feud lands brod in hospital

An old grudge between family members deteriorated into violence in Virac last week when one of them hacked his own brother along the road in front of the Catanduanes State Colleges.

According to the report sent to PNP provincial director Supt. Rolando O. Gonzales, Benjamin Arcilla y Tejada, 25, single and a resident of San Juan, Virac, was driving a motorcycle along the national road to the poblacion in Eastern Cavinitan when, upon reaching the Zamboanga Farm junction, his elder brother Pablo, who was on board another motorcycle, shouted at him.

Benjamin stopped and alighted. Upon seeing his broher, Pablo ran towards a nearby eatery, got a bolo and hacked his brother on the left shoulder. The victim was immediately taken to the Eastern Bicol Medical Center while Pablo gave up to Supt. Virgilio Remo.

Meanwhile, a businessman in Virac lost over P10,000 in cash and goods after unidentified perpetrators cleaned out his store in barangay Sto. Domingo.

Perfecto Beo y Sarmiento, 72, married and a resident of the barangay, told probers that they discovered the crime at 4:30 A.M. of Dec. 6. After destroying the padlock at the store's maindoor, the suspects took P10,000 in cash, milk cans and cartons and five packs of Marlboro cigarettes.
